The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has launched its Community Heroes Award for 2008. Now in its third year, the competition rewards retailers who have made a difference in their community. The Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF) is running a series of workshops around the UK during 2008 which are aimed at helping businesses deal with mounting red tape, growing customer expectations and rising demand for technical information. The Scottish Grocers' Federation has slammed new alcohol licensing fees in Scotland. John Drummond, the group's chief executive, said the fees gave supermarkets an unfair advantage.
